What are custom tiles?
Custom tiles are high-quality porcelain or ceramic tiles that have bespoke images, colours, logos and patterns directly printed onto their surfaces with high-resolution cutting-edge digital printing technology.
Tailored tiles are then kiln-fired to produce permanent, durable designs that offer additional benefits like resistance to colour fading and scratches. The custom tile process empowers designers with creative tools for vibrant and highly visual projects. These can include tiles featuring photographic imagery, intricate art designs and brand elements on architectural facades. As well as this, a wide array of tile types are offered specifically for both exterior and interior applications.
Why choose custom printed tiles?
Custom printed tiles offer a variety of inherent advantages. They allow creatives like artists, art consultants and interior designers to access bespoke products that perfectly support their design vision. Personalised for projects, tiles can answer any design brief exactly and are exceptionally versatile products, supporting smooth and successful results. Unlike other bespoke materials, custom tiles are robust and designed for long-term use, even in areas that experience considerable use and footfall. This durability means that, providing they are cared for correctly, custom tiles can remain in place for a lifetime.
Custom tile printing process
When ordering custom tiles for a project, the process typically starts with an initial in-depth consultation. Our experienced team work closely with clients ensuring they have a complete understanding of the aims involved and what type of tiles are required. Tiles can be designed to match any image or logo, and colour matched glazes ensure tiles can perfectly replicate any RAL or Pantone colour reference desired. Designs are printed onto the tile in high resolution using the latest digital printing techniques, guaranteeing that details are crisp and clear.
To create permanency and durability, tiles are fired in a kiln at extremely high temperatures of between 800°C to 1250°C. This firing process works to fuse the desired design into the glaze of the tile and make a permanent element of the tile itself. The final step of the custom tile printing process is a step-by-step installation guide to ensure tiles are fitted effectively to guarantee a lasting and satisfying result.
