Portuguese jewellery store includes new ceramic tile mural

Danish jewellers Pandora has refurbished its Greater Porto store in line with its Evoke 2.0 global concept.

This aims to make shopping a more intuitive and fluid process, providing an immersive experience where customers can encounter the products and make their purchase choices in a conducive setting. Not content to apply the concept uniformly across its international outlets, Pandora has ensured that the Portuguese store, housed on the ground floor of NorteShopping, has some distinctly local flavours.

A large, decorative mural, made of Portuguese tiles, forms a key visual focus in the store. The mural has been created in collaboration with the famous Viuva Lamego tile maker. Founded in 1849 and famed for its production of hand-painted azulejos tiles, Viuva Lamego continues to be a leader in premium tile manufacturing and exports its products worldwide. The Pandora store mural, while retaining echoes of Portuguese tradition, aims not to mimic the classic azulejos style, but rather combines contemporary design with the local artistic heritage.

Designers and architects are increasingly aware of the stunning visual impact of ceramic tile murals in public spaces. At Digital Ceramics Custom Tiles, we use advanced tile printing techniques that can reproduce accurately the designer’s vision, incorporating a wide range of tones, textures and finishes to create a unique surface.
