Valencia consolidates its role in Spanish tile exports

A recent report published by the Valencia Port Authority, commonly known as Valenciaport, has highlighted the crucial role Valencia plays in exporting Castellón tiles to international markets.

Castellón Province is one of Spain’s key industrial hubs, handling over 90% of the nation’s ceramic tile output. The region’s tradition of tile manufacturing goes back to the 18th Century, when the first ceramic factory was created in the village of Ancora.

The recent report shows that, in 2024, Valenciaport handled 80,624 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of ceramic goods, representing over 2,000,000 tonnes of material. In the US, the ports of New York, Miami and Los Angeles were the top destinations. Together, these cities received a total of 182 shipments, amounting to 290,420 tonnes. The UK received 128,569 tonnes of ceramic products from Valenciaport across 68 operations.

Outside Europe and North America, some of the most significant destinations were Australia, Brazil, China and Turkey. The reach of Valenciaport’s international export operation also now extends to lesser markets including Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Taiwan and several key African and Caribbean destinations.

The report clearly demonstrates how Valenciaport continues to support the region’s growing tile manufacturing industry, by handling large volume exports to a geographically diverse range of established and emerging international markets.
