The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida hosted this year’s Coverings trade show from April 29th to May 3rd, exploring many of the latest trends in tiling.
With over 1000 exhibitors from around 40 countries, Coverings is North America’s biggest conference showcasing ceramic and stone products.
This year’s event showed that sustainability remains a key concern for producers and designers in the tiling industry. In terms of style, earthy colours and natural textures continue to predominate, with tiling seen as an extension of nature, bringing natural forms, textures and tones into the human space.
The Ceramics of Italy exhibition had two notable, but contrasting, examples of these trends.
Mirage’s ReGea tile collection replicates the tones and textures of Sicilian stone. The porcelain used for these tiles incorporates 3% recycled glass, reflecting the company’s commitment to eco-efficiency. It’s versatility and durability make it well-suited to both interior and exterior use. Available colours include anthracite, ivory, grey and beige. The neutral tones of the tiles facilitate easy blending with other elements of an interior or exterior design concept.
Also from Italy, ABK’s Wide & Style collection uses large-format porcelain tiles ideal for bathroom walls, and sporting a butterfly design which aims to give a sense of movement while preserving an overall feeling of peace and calm.
